Wannah Lois Rodriguez was called home to Heaven on September 1, 2011. Born November 18, 1939, in Hanford, she was 71. Wannah attended local schools and graduated from Hanford High School in 1957.
Wannah’s greatest joy and accomplishment in life was raising her four children. A single mom since about 1969, Wannah was both mom and dad to Chris, Cathy, Laura and Teresa. She dedicated her entire life to them and sacrificed much to ensure she could provide all they needed. As her children were growing up, many of their friends found comfort, laughter, and support in her home and also called her “mom”.
Wannah worked over 26 years as a legal secretary in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office before retiring in 1998. Wannah loved her job, and she was a loyal employee who took a great deal of pride in what she did. Her dedication was recognized when she was awarded the Kings County Employee of the Year Award.
Wannah’s surviving family includes her son, Chris Rodriguez and his wife, Lynda; Cathy Swaim and her husband, Rick; Laura Mathis, Teresa Martin and her husband, Rodney; her grandchildren: Christopher, Alex, Emily, Caleb, Lee, Shelby, Mark, Daniel, Jamie, Cheryl, Kristen, and Kody, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-sister, Ernestine Phillips and her husband, Richard, of Manteca.
Wannah was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mildred Reynolds.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty St, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-5591. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Hanford Cemetery; 10500 10th Ave., Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937.
