Carlos Lopes Batista

Carlos Lopes Batista, 73 of Hanson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Born in Pawtucket, RI, on October 30, 1949, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Zulmira (deNave) Batista. Carlos was employed as a District Trainer and a Master Service Technician for Smart Care Equipment Solutions. He enjoyed traveling especially taking Pilgrimages  and was a man who practiced his faith everyday. He spent countless hours in Adoration at Holy Ghost and St. Clements. Most of all, Carlos loved watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with his family.

Carlos is survived by his loving wife Bonnie (Simpson) Batista and is survived by their children Michael Batista and Armie of New Jersey, Heather Batista of Rhode Island, Jill Harkins and Christopher of Whitman, and Jamie Escalera and Jaime of Hanson. He was the brother of Carol Batista and Peter of Rhode Island, Jack Batista and Ella of South Carolina, and Mary Porto and Tony of Portugal. Carlos was the devoted grandfather of Kaitlyn Albro-Batista, Julia Albro-Batista, Kai Escalera, Avri Harkins, Keegan Harkins, and Sloane Escalera.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Route 53, Hanover. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Angels Parish - St. Mary's, 392 Hanover Street, Route 139, Hanover. Burial to follow at Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
