

Charles Wesley Mann played his final round on August 12th in the loving presence of his family, he passed away peacefully.Charlie was born on April 27, 1935 to H. Gordon and Marion (Cummings) Mann. He leaves behind his wife Leanne (Donovan) and three daughters, Deborah and (Robert) Stauble of Glastonbury, CT, Karen and (Michael) Barry of Duxbury, Jennifer and (Fred) DiCristofaro of Hanson, and step-daughter Theresa and (Adam) Cocio of Hanson. A great source of pride was his 9 grandchildren; Amanda, Matthew, Robert and (Maggie) Stauble, Garrett, Elizabeth and Katherine Barry, Delaney Cullen, Brady and Sophey Cocio.Charlie was survived by his brother David and wife Marjorie Mann of Buzzards Bay, MA, his sister Sally Mann of Broadalbin, NY and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Kathleen, sister Nancy (Mann) Binswanger, brother Douglas Mann and nephew Gordon Mann.Hanson was Charlie’s home for most of his 81 years. Charlie graduated from Hanover High School, served his Country in the Army and studied at Northeastern University. Through his mother’s encouragement he started his life in public service on the Hanson School Committee. He dedicated five decades of exemplary public service not only to the citizens in his district but to the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was a State Representative and Assistant Minority Whip in the General Court as well as the Assistant Legislative Secretary for Governor Francis Sargent. Charlie was elected in a write-in campaign for Hanson Town Moderator and served for 20 years with a legacy of being fair, skilled and perhaps the most respected moderator in the region. Most recently he returned to being a Deputy Sheriff for the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department.One of his great joys was time spent with friends on the links at Halifax Country Club.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 18th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Hanover MA.
