
Chester Ernest Baker, January 22, following a period of declining health, died peacefully in his home in the arms of his loving wife surrounded by his family. Chester was born in Weymouth MA, the only son of Chester E Baker Sr. and Phyllis Marie LeFavor of West Bridgewater MA. Upon the passing of his parents at a young age, he was raised by his beloved grandparents John and Jeannette LeFavor of Quincy MA. He served with the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received in action in Holland on November 5, 1944. He earned degrees from Northeastern University, Suffolk Law School, and Bentley College and worked in the accounting and law fields for over 50 years, including the Estate and Gift Tax Division of Internal Revenue Service and his own tax practice in Hanover MA. It was while working at a downtown Boston accounting firm where he met his wife, Patricia A Beaver. They grew much closer through their days at the Brettl-Hupfers Ski Club in N Conway NH and would be married for 43 years, settle in Hanover MA, and have six children. Of his marriage to Patricia, he often said "It was the best decision I ever made!" Chester was a lover of outdoors and an enthusiastic golfer who was very generous with the sharing of found golf balls. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His poise and courage, compassion and kindness, patience, easy laughter, and his faith and love are the qualities of his life that touched those whom he encountered. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia Beaver Baker and six children and three grandchildren. John F.X. Baker and daughter-in-law Christina Olayon-Baker of South Boston MA; Christopher H. Baker, and Mathew P. Baker of South Boston MA; grandson Oliver Holeschovsky and granddaughters Cashel and Mae Davis. Funeral Mass will be held Friday Jan 25th at 10 AM in St Mary of the Sacred Heart Church 392 Hanover St., Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Baker family would like to thank all who have touched Chester's and our lives with their love and prayers.
