

Emily May (Bates) Cousins, 88, passed away on December 15, 2016. Born on May 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Gary and Emily May (Macomber) Bates. Raised and educated in Randolph and Quincy, she was a Hanover resident for the past 52 years.
Emily was the beloved wife of the late Fred E. Cousins. Devoted mother of Carleton A. Kemp and his wife Judith of Wildwood, FL, Wayne L. Kemp and his wife Janice of Cape Coral, FL, Christine L. Kemp of Plymouth, MA, Jeffrey T. Kemp and his wife Anne of Venice, FL, Cynthia D. McClellan and her husband William of Plympton, MA, Deborah L. Dunn and her husband Harold of Hanover, MA, and Donna M. Smith and her husband Richard of Collierville, TN. Cherished grandmother of 25 and great-grandmother of 30. She was also the sister to Sylvia Rupert and husband Rodney, Shirley Shea and late husband Richard, Annie Menzel and husband William, and deceased brothers Thomas Bates, Arthur Bates, and Charles Bates, and survived by many nieces and nephews.
Emily had a multitude of hobbies over the years. She was an artist who created many beautiful paintings and drawings. She loved to knit, crochet, sew, make puzzles, hike, garden, and even started skiing at the age of 50. She also enjoyed cooking and watching the Food Network.
Visiting hours at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, Hanover, on Monday, December 19th from 4-7 PM. Funeral service will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20th at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Emily's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
