

Jim was the loving husband of Karen (Kelly) McLaughlin, who he was married to for almost 50 years of ultra bliss. They spent much time together, enjoyed family and friends, traveling and cruising many places, but his favorite was always Aruba. He was the father of Kelly (McLaughlin) Peterson and her husband Michael of Kingston, and James McLaughlin and wife Angela of Hanover and he was the proud Papa of Madison Hope and Olivia Rose also of Hanover. He was the brother of Rosemary Shires and husband Ray of Jacksonville, FL, Paul of Easton, MA, John "Jack" of Dorchester, MA, Michael of Maine and the late Robert “Bobby” and Richard “Rick” McLaughlin. He is also survived by his brother in laws, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Jim worked as a repairman for Verizon for 30 years. He was also a recipient of the Theodore Newton Vail Life Saving award for saving two people from a burning car in 1985. He also was a Veteran of the US Army. He spent 30 years as a Rockland Lion, and was a current member of the Rockland Knights of Columbus. He will be greatly missed, but will always be remembered for his funny sayings.
Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, Hanover, on Saturday, April 22nd from 9-11am, with a funeral home service at 11am. Burial to follow at Hanover Center Cemetery. All are welcomed.
