Jamie is survived by his wife Mary, son Jason and his fiancé Angela Peterson of Rockland, daughter Bethany and her fiancé Norm Maillet of Holliston, brothers: Daniel and his wife Mary of Edgewater, FLA, Charles and his wife Kathi, Patrick and his wife Tammie, both of Rockland, and sister Marie Shanahan and her husband Mark of Plymouth. Jamie is also survived by his grandson Jacob Ryan and step grandson Colin "Bugsy" Smith of Rockland, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jamie worked at Boston Whaler for most of his life. In recent years before retirement, he worked as a printer for New England Art and Wearguard.
Jamie grew up in a time, the 60's, best spoken in Bob Dylan's lyrics "Times They Are A Changing." A time when they wanted all people to be considered equal. A time for peace, love, kindness and humility. This is who Jamie was. Always willing to give whatever he could and never asking for anything in return. Jamie was the oldest in our family and he never let what mom and dad taught us be lost. Live with love in your heart, be humble and kind. Always have courage to do what was right, and overcome whatever you face. He loved everyone. He taught how to love and to turn the other cheek.
Jamie was simple, funny and old fashioned with a cheerful smile. He had a light, happy spirit. Jamie loved nature, camping in New Hampshire, fishing and hiking. He loved his garden and would start planning it in January. He loved sports, especially going to the Red Sox games with his daughter. He also loved his movie nights with family.
Jamie has left us to a better place but who he was will always be with us. He was truly loved.
