

Joan graduated from Milton High in 1953 and worked in office management positions for many firms. A lifelong Roman Catholic, Joan was married at St. Mary’s of the Hills Church in Milton to Peter Burke in 1958. She was the cherished mother of four children raised in Hanson, MA.
Joan believed strongly in serving others in her community, she actively volunteered at the local food pantry, delivered Meals on Wheels, belonged to the Women’s Guild at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, and the Helping Hands committee. She was patriotic, voted in every election, held signs, campaigned, and volunteered at her local polling center.
Joan was an avid genealogist and spent hours researching death, birth, and census records of her family. Rarely idle, Joan enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling.
Joan is survived by her daughter Deborah Beaton of Lakeville, her son Christopher Burke of Lakeville, son Jeffrey Burke of Waldorf, MD, and son Dennis Burke of Boston, MA. She is the beloved grandmother to Katelynn and Amelia Beaton and Reagan and Donovan Burke.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 2 Maquan Street, Corner Route 14 & 58, Hanson, on Friday, January 26th from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Apostles Parish - St Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan Street, Route 14, Hanson, on Saturday, January 27th, at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
