Born in Dorchester on December 7, 1944 to the late Robert E. Collins and Helen C. (McSweeney) of Falmouth. He was one of six children.
He is survived by his devoted, loving and caring wife of 55 years Karen (Knight) of Milton, his three gray hair causing children; Michael, Jonathan and Kimberly and his two most amazing grandchildren Sean and Lauren. His sisters Mary and Patricia and his brother William "Bill" will also miss him greatly - along with much other extended family and many friends. John was also the brother of the late Robert and Paul Collins both of Falmouth.
After graduating from Milton High School, Seano dutifully enlisted and served our country in the United States Coast Guard for the next four years, earning him veteran status. He went on later in life to proudly earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1988. All throughout his life he was a faithful Catholic who later became a Eucharistic Minister that "tossed biscuits" for years at Sunday mass. After working as a lineman "connecting two wires" for too long, he happily retired from Verizon and went on to tinkering in his garage and enjoying a few cold ones.
To his family and all who knew him well he was the fixer and solver of all things. He had iron boogers that could direct him blindfolded across multiple states. He loved Sunday Pats games and a good roaring fire in his fireplace. He was as generous and caring as he was stubborn and tough. There was nothing better than a prank and a genuine good hard laugh. He had a passionate relationship with "hot rods", fast cars, and loud ZZ Top music.
