

John P. Kelly Sr, 89, of Pembroke died Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a long illness. Son of the late William J. and Christina Doyle Kelly, he was born in Boston on July 20, 1914. He was raised and educated in Mattapan and lived many years in Quincy before moving to Pembroke 19 years ago. Mr. Kelly attended Northeastern University and was a Graduate of Suffolk University. Until his retirement in 1975, Mr. Kelly was employed by the Boston Naval Shipyard as Superintendent of the Electronics Department. He was a Member of the South Shore Men of Harmony, and a former Member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed Music and putting together Family Photo Movies. He was a former Member of the Mass National Guard, serving in the National Guard's last Calvary Unit. He is survived by his wife, Mary W. Curran Kelly, 2 sons, John P. Kelley Jr. and his wife, Peggy of Squantum and Richard J. Kelly and his wife, Dale of Pembroke, 5 daughters, Eileen Walsh and her husband, Thomas of Plymouth, Paula Powers and her husband, Thomas of Plymouth, Regina O'Brien and her husband, Stephen of Pembroke, Kathleen A. Kelly and her fiancee, Lawrence Colson of Ashland and Nancy M. Teague and her husband, Sean of Cohassett, his God daughter, Joann Cunniff of Dedham, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He was the father of the late James R. Kelly and the Brother of the late William Kelly and the late Christina Ahern. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 28, 2003 at 11 AM in St. Theclas Church, 145 Washington Street, Rte 53 in North Pembroke. Interment will be in Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury. Visiting Hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in Hanover on Sunday from 2-6 PM.
