It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of John Francis Rein, Jr., 56 of Rockland, who left us too soon on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Born in Boston, he was the dedicated son of his beloved parents, the late John F. Rein, Sr. and Patricia (Sullivan) Rein. John was a proud member of the Quincy community. Growing up with his buddies, John enjoyed playing darts, dining at all of his favorite restaurants and discussing and debating current events and sports. He never shied away from trips to the casino to "people watch." He also never missed an opportunity to pick up a few lucky scratch tickets on his way home. John was an avid Boston sports fan who hated to miss a minute of any game his hometown heroes were playing. John was a devoted husband and father who looked forward to and cherished annual trips to Disney World and so many adventures in Florida and his happy places in the mountains of New Hampshire. John was a proud and vital employee of Sunbelt Rentals. John never met a furry friend he didn't instantly greet with affection.
John is lovingly remembered by his wife Carolyn (Crescenzi) Rein and their beloved son and John's best bud John “JT” F. Rein, III, both of Rockland. He was the brother of Ruth, MaryEllen, Vivian, Gail, and the late Henry (Hank). John will remain in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews. John is also held dear by his mother-in-law Louise Crescenzi and her late husband Louis, loving sister-in-law Laura and her husband Michael, and brother-in-law John Crescenzi. He will be missed terribly by his favorite furry friend, Squeak the mittened kitten.
Visitation will be held at Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Route 53, Hanover, on Sunday, November 2nd from 2-5PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Angels Parish - St Mary’s, 392 Hanover Street, Route 139, Hanover, on Monday at 9AM. All are invited to meet directly at the church for the Funeral Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in John’s name the Standish Humane Society, 622 Congress Street, Duxbury, MA 02332 or Rockland Holiday Magic, P.O. Box 50, Rockland, MA 02370, two organizations John loved and supported.
