

Mr. John W. Shanley, 78, of Hanover died Saturday, November 5, 2005 in the South Shore Nursing Facility in Rockland after a long illness. The son of the late John and Alice {Welch Shanley, he was born in Boston on March 15, 1927. He was raised and educated in Dorchester and has lived in Hanover the past 42 years. Mr. Shanley was a graduate of Commerce High School in Boston and a graduate of Boston University, with a degree in Accounting. He served in the Navy during WWII and retired in 1990 as a Internal Revenue Service Agent after 35 years of service. He was a member the OFD Originally From Dorchester Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Husband of the late Mary Jane Coghlan Shanley, he is survived by 4 sons, John Shanley of Natick , Michael P. Shanley of Hanover, Joseph P. Shanley of Bridgewater and Mark B. Shanley of Denver CO, 4 daughters, Carol A. McKinnon of Denver CO, Paula M. Delaney of Kingston, Mary Jane Shanley of Hanover and Jacqueline M. Shanley of Hanover and 9 grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 9 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment will be in the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in HANOVER on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
