

Joseph Owen Brennan III, 66 of Pembroke, passed away on February 5, 2015 after a long and valiant struggle against overwhelming odds. Joe was born on June 8, 1948 in Boston. He was the devoted son of the late Joseph Owen Brennan Jr. He loved and cared deeply for his mother Margaret B. Brennan of Pembroke. He was the loving father of Stephen R. Brennan of Weymouth, Jane (Brennan) Donahey, Mary Beth Brennan of Dorchester, and grandfather of Henry and Oliver Donahey. Joe was cherished by his sisters Margaret A. (Brennan) Morris of Kingston, Elaine Brennan Long of Naples, and Joanne Brennan Salmon of Pembroke. He enjoyed a warm and loving relationship with nephews Michael Morris of Kennebunk, Andrew Joseph Morris of Wrentham, Joseph Long of Graton, CA, Brendan Long of Orlando, FL, Michael Salmon of Pembroke, and nieces Amy (Morris) Nelson of Virginia Beach, Kellyanne (Salmon) Simons of Raleigh, NC, and Kristen Salmon of Pembroke. He leaves many treasured cousins. Beloved nephew of Thomas C. Mealey of Norwood, George Mealey of Falmouth, Joan E. Mealey of Duxbury, Therese Salesses of Marshfield, and Dorothy Brennan of Pembroke. Joe was a graduate of Bridgewater State University and earned a Master's Degree in Criminal Law from Boston University. He enjoyed a long career in law enforcement as a Pembroke police officer. He was an avid collector of baseball memorabilia and was a huge history buff, particularly WWII. His interest in his heritage led him to seek and obtain a foreign born citizenship of Ireland. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 2 Maquan St. Cor. Rte. 14 & 58, HANSON, on Wednesday from 10-10:45 AM. Funeral mass to follow at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St. Rte. 14 at 11 AM. Burial in Pembroke Center Cemetery.
