
Mr. Joseph P. Casey, 86 of Hanover died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Alliance Healthcare in Braintree. The son of the late John and Annie Connolly Casey, he was born in Boston on January 12, 1924. He was a graduate of Boston English High School and Boston University where he received a degree in Public Relations. Mr. Casey served in the U.S. Army's 99th Infantry Division and was later employed as a Night Supervisor at the South Postal Annex, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Special Police in Hanover, worked at Building 19, the Hanover Package Store and he wrote for the former Hanover Branch Newspaper. After retirement he worked for a courier company. He was a member of the Hanover Militia, Retired from the Le Regiment Bourbonnais, a member of the Newman Club Federation in College, the Hanover Historical Society and High School Building committee. Husband of the late Dorothy B. Thompson and the late Eleanor Fitzgibbon, he is survived by 2 sons, John Casey of Dorchester and Paul Casey of Duxbury, 2 daughters, Anne C. Mills of Concord NH and M/Sgt. Ret. USAF Joanne M. Casey of Locust Grove GA, 5 step children, Pamela Korejwa of Rockland, Edward Brown of Halifax, Leslie Collins of Charleston SC, Peter Brown of Gig Harbor WA and Elizabeth Brown of Abington. He was the brother of Sr. Anne Casey S.C. of Wellesley Hills and the late Sr. Anne Virginia Casey S.C. and the late John J. Casey. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, Jenica Lynn Casey, Alena Joy Casey and Peter Allan Casey. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hanover Visiting Nurse Association, 550 Hanover St., Hanover MA 02339.
