He was born to Lilah and Gerald Murphy on July 23rd, 1963 in Brockton, Massachusetts and grew up in Pembroke, Massachusetts. After graduating from Silver Lake High School, Joe attended Mass Maritime Academy, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. He worked as a merchant marine and later moved on to become an engineer at several power plants.
During his childhood, Joe and his family would spend many of their summers at Crescent Lake in Maine. Joe loved spending time outdoors- whether it was fishing, hiking, canoeing or camping. He shared his love of nature with his children. He had the best sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller.
He was a caring and loving father to Montana, Shauna, Liam, Lilah Murphy and the late Christian Murphy. He is survived by his sister Debbie, brothers Jay and Brad, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
