

Paul Roger Betts, 73 passed away peacefully on June 14, 2018 surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Boston, MA to the late Cecilia Marston (DAmore) and Alfred Betts on December 23, 1944. Paul attended Weymouth Trade school before enlisting in the Army from June 1962-July 1964 between the Korean and Vietnam conflicts as a helicopter mechanic. Following his discharge, he married the late Ada (Farrelly) Betts of Weymouth in 1965 and moved to Norwell in 1967 to raise a family. Paul was employed by the Painters and Allied Trades Union as a dry-wall finisher. He was a member of the Marshfield Rod and Gun Club, NRA and a Historian and Commander of the American Legion Post 149 in Hanover.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary (Reid) Betts of Hanover. Paul’s daughters include Kathy and husband Ray Miller of Hanover, Patti Betts of Hanson and Deborah and husband Karl Nord of Hanson. His grandchildren, Lindsey, Eric & Sarah Miller of Hanover Kelly & Michael Fleming of Hanson and William Nord of Hanson were his pride and joy. He was the brother of Carol (Betts) Brewer and husband John of E. Weymouth, Gary Marston and wife Frances of Largo, Florida and the late Bob Betts and wife Barbara of Pembroke. Paul was uncle to many nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as “uncle piss & moan”. Later in life, Paul’s family expanded to include Step-daughter Barbara Robinson of Brewer Me., granddaughter Danielle and husband Greg Taylor of Taunton, grandson Scott Macomber Jr. of Brewer, Me. and great grandchildren Lexi and Niveah Taylor of Taunton.
Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Rte 53 in Hanover on Monday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St, Rte 139 in Hanover. Burial will follow at Washington St Cemetery in Norwell.
