

Mr. Robert L. Keane, 92 of Lunenburg formerly of Rockland died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer MA after a brief illness. The son of the late John J. and Catherine V. Murphy Keane, he was born in Rockland on November 23, 1914. He was raised and educated in Rockland and was a graduate of Franklin Institute in Boston. Mr. Keane was diagnosed with Polio at age 13. He did not let his illness get in way; he built his own home, installing the electrical and plumbing himself. As a result of the Polio, he was a paraplegic; again this would not stop him from driving. He developed levers for the brakes and accelerator for his car. Mr. Keane was employed as a Draftsman for the Raytheon Corporation for over 35 years. He was a former member of the Rockland Knights of Columbus and the Rockland Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by 2 brothers, Gerald Keane of Bridgewater and Donald Keane of Idaho, 3 sisters, Eleanor Burns of Marshfield, Ruth Keane of Lunenburg and Mary Hembree of Weymouth and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Harold Keane and the late Clare Keane. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 9 AM in Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street in Rockland. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45East Water Street in ROCKLAND on Monday from 4-7 PM.
