Ruth V. Barnes

Ruth V. (Gilmore) Barnes of Brookline and Boston, MA passed away on March 27, 2021 at the age of ninety-three. Ruth was born on November 2, 1927 to the late John and Agnes (Sullivan) Gilmore. She was raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Roslindale High School, Class of 1946.

Ruth was proud of her Irish heritage, enjoyed dancing, music, her soap operas, getaways to Ellis Haven in the summer and the Mohawk Trail in the fall. Fiercely independent, she lived alone in her home until shortly before her death. She will be missed dearly.

Ruth was predeceased by her sisters Agnes Tzay and Elizabeth Kelly. She was predeceased by her husband Russell P. Barnes and first husband Joseph Norris. Devoted mother of Paul J. Norris and his wife Gail of Tewksbury, Russell S. Barnes and his wife Lisa of West Brookfield, Janis E. Arnold and her husband Richard of Norwell and Sandra M. Yong and her husband John of Natick. She was predeceased by her stepsons David, William and Robert Barnes and her grandson Michael Arnold. Proud and loving nana of Christopher (and Andrea), Andrew, Courtney, Kathryn and Jenna.
