

Terese was the daughter of the late Marie (Pitzen) and Paul Montavon. She was born and raised in DeKalb, Illinois. She attended Clark College where she studied education - and played the drums in a band. Upon graduation she packed her Mustang and drove to Boston where she took a teaching job and met the love of her life James E. Byrne. The two married in 1972 and settled in Hanson where they would raise their family. Terese worked a lengthy career as a teacher in the Braintree public schools. An avid lifelong learner, T earned her Master of Arts Degree from UMass with a concentration in critical and creative thinking.
Terese was a brilliant, inspirational and independent woman. She loved with her whole heart and lived life to its fullest every day. Terese loved to travel, read, write poetry, cook and garden. She loved being in nature and found peace in “the simple life” and her faith. Above all, she most enjoyed spending time with her family.
Terese was the loving wife of the late James E. Byrne. Mother of Lee Sentnor and her husband Richard of Hanson and the late James Edward Byrne III. Grandmother of Allyson, Katelyn, and William Sentnor. She was predeceased by her sister, Sister Anita Montavon and her brothers Jerry Montavon, Len Montavon and Tommy Montavon. She is survived by her sisters Mimi Montavon, Jane Blievic, Ruth Graves, her sisters-in-law Carolyn Montavon Uili and Barbara Byron and her brothers-in-law Jake Graves and Walter Byron. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close relatives and friends.
An open house will be held at T and Jim's home on Saturday August 19 from 2:00pm-8:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 21st at 9:00AM at Our Lady of the Angels Parish - St. Mary's Church in Hanover, 392 Hanover St. Burial will immediately follow at Fern Hill Cemetery followed by a lunch reception.
