
William J. ''Bud'' Duffy, 80, of Halifax died Thursday, January 10, 2002, in the Life Care Center in Scituate after a short illness. The son of the late William J. and Katherine Heise Duffy, he was born in Somerville on May 12, 1921. He was raised and educated in Somerville and was a Graduate of Ringe Tech High School in Cambridge. He served in the Army during WWII. Mr. Duffy retired in 1980 as a Detective for the Boston Police Department. After his retirement worked as a custodian for the town of Halifax. He was a handyman and loved fixing homes and cars. He lived in Hanson before moving to Halifax 22 years ago. Husband of the late Gloria M. Cormier Duffy, he is survived by a son, William J. Duffy 3rd of Attleboro, 2 daughters, Gloria J. McGillicuddy of Northwood NH and Suzanne Cooledge of Marshfield. a sister. Virginia F. Allison of Hanson, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late JoAnne Jahnke and brother of the late Edward J. Duffy. Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 12, 2002 at 9am in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Rte 58 in Halifax Monponsett. Internment in Central Cemetery in Halifax. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 814 Indian Head Street, Corner of Rte's 14 & 58 in Hanson on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
