William C. McCarthy, 74, of Hanover died Monday, May 31, 2004 at the Northeast Specialty Hospital in Braintree. The son of the late Joseph T. and Gertrude E. Gallagher McCarthy, he was born in Boston on September 2, 1929. Mr. McCarthy had served in the Army during WWII and had been employed in the Maintenance Department for the Somerville Housing Authority. He is survived by his wife, Eva L. Holland McCarthy, 3 sons, William McCarthy of Chelmsford, Joseph McCarthy of VT and Robert Surprise of Stoneham, 3 daughters, Susan Kaminski of FL, Kathleen LaFlame of GA and Jacqueline Surprise of Hanover. Also survived by 8 grandchildren. Funeral Services and Internment will be private, arrangements by the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in HANOVER.
