Obituary of William R. Pocock
William Rayne Pocock, 80, of Orland, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. Born July 20, 1937 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Charles and Leonora (Bloom) Pocock. A graduate of South Side High School, William proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years. A hard worker, he was a floor mechanic for over 60 years having been employed with Homestead Rug & Carpet, Klopfenstein, Strahm, and most recently Tile Interiors, from which he retired. He had completed flooring for the Embassy, the Fort Wayne Bank Building, and the W&D Building to name a few. An outdoorsman and avid reader, he enjoyed fishing, boating, watching/feeding birds, and traveling. He loved his family, never knew a stranger, and would graciously help anyone. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, June (Mozena) Pocock of Orland; children, Billi Rae (Ron) Opliger of Spencerville, Kevin Pocock of Michigan, and Mathew (Racheal) Pocock of Orland; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and brothers, James (Shirley) Pocock of Fort Wayne and Charles (Carol) Pocock of Rochester. He was also preceded in death by his sister; Mary Ann Forgach. Funeral Service will be 11am on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 SR 37, Harlan, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be 2-4 & 6-8pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial at Leo Memorial Cemetery, Leo.
