Joey D. Boykin,52 , on Sunday, September 25, 2011, went to join his papa, Jesse Boykin, sister, Janie Jones, and his na-naw just in time for breakfast. He was a good man, plain and simple. He was a loving husband, and loyal companion, and even though he hadn’t worked in years due to disability, he never stopped moving and he never stopped giving. He would literally give the shirt off his back, the cash from his wallet and (perhaps for what he’s known the most) the candy from his not-so-secret stash. He was a father figure, a brother, and our “Mr. Joe!” to many.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse A. Boykin, Jr., his grandmother, Annie Garrett, and his sister, Janie Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Belinda Boykin; children, Taylor S. Steward (Corey D. Lyon), and Marcos L. Garcia (Bethany Berkhouse); mother, Betty Jean Boykin; sister, Judy K. Young; and his mother-in-law, Rebecca Lopez. He is also survived by his aunt, Margaret Ann (Paul); niece, Carrie Cholick England (Todd) of Austin, Texas and their children, Cash and Lily; nephews, Christopher Cholick of Virginia Beach, Virginia, John Cholick, Brian Cholick, Casey (Carolyn) Jones of Grapevine, Texas, Cody Jones, and William D. Young, Jr. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Mark Jones, Albert Cholick, William D. Young I, and serveral Lopez brothers-in law; his Earth sisters, Cynthia A. Steward and Dora de la Cruz; All his family in Tennessee and Mississippi; and All of his little ones at BB’s Kids and their parents.
