Jose was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dora B. Hernandez.
He is survived by his brothers, Juan and Antonio Sanchez, his sisters, Adalia Lopez and Julia Gonzalez, as well as several uncles and aunts.
Mr. Benavidez dedicated 30 years of his life working for Cameron County.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 beginning at 1pm with a rosary service at 7pm. A mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Harlingen on Wednesday, August 27 at 10am, with interment to follow at Combes Cemetery.
