If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart and I will live there forever." A.A. Milne Alfred G. Lupacchini, 71, of Hummelstown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 13. 2021 at his home. Fred was born in the former Hershey Hospital on July 24, 1949. He was the son of the late Alfredo and Emma (Buschi) Lupacchini, and was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy M. Lupacchini. Surviving are his daughter, Jill Gardner (Michael Yurcic); three grandchildren, Jordan, Madison and Zoe, all of Harrisburg; 2 sisters, Irene Tabet (Peter), of Mill Valley, CA, and Lizabeth Lupacchini, of San Diego, CA; and brother, Thomas Lupacchini, of San Diego, CA, three nieces, one grand-niece, and one grand-nephew. Also mourning his loss is his devoted companion, Jorja (Hare) Barton and her son, Scott Barton. Fred was a retired employee of R F Fager Co. Camp Hill; the original owner of Achilles Heels Shoe Store, Harrisburg; a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School Class of 1967, and attended Penn State Pottsville and Harrisburg Area Community College earning an Associates Degree. Fred's life was a storybook of tales, ever intertwined with excitement and awe. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was often encouraged to write a compilation of his experiences, those shocking and those complete with drama and mystery. We heard them all, many times over, and never tired of them. He was a generous soul, a true Italian, never letting anyone depart his house without some sort of gift, a cookie, a banana, "how about a tomato ", he'd say. He was so proud of his beautiful home, meticulous and inviting, and ever grateful to the forces that made that possible. He was a ravenous sports fan, could have easily been a stand-in for a commentator any day, and knew sitcom scripts in and out as though he wrote them. He was the consummate bleacher fan faithfully cheering on his granddaughters. He looked forward to traveling to California to spend the holidays with his family. Over the last five year's he shared sunlight, love, and rainbows that he never imagined before. He learned to trust and laugh again and even travel outside his somewhat insulated world. He reconnected with so many friends and so enjoyed reminiscing with them about the "old days". "The Boys" will no doubt continue those stories. His sunlight shines elsewhere now, but remains bright indeed in the hearts of those who mourn him. Hold him close, in mind and spirit, remembering the goodness, the love and laughter he shared with us all. Our hearts are broken with his sudden loss, but the memories we share and store in our hearts and minds are testaments to a life well lived and everlasting. We mourn you, dearest Fred, but we know this is but a brief moment in time until we'll share those stories and embrace you in our arms again. Sleep well, AGL, the universe awaits you. A memorial service, officiated by Father Joshua of St. Catherine Laboure Church, will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10 am at the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St. Due to Covid restrictions, those interested in viewing the service may do so virtually by logging onto the Neill Facebook page at facebook.com/neillfuneralhomesinc.
