

Arthur (Red) was born in Bloomsburg, PA. He served proudly in the US Marine Corps during both WW2 and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the PA State Police where he was a trooper and a detective. He then started a successful painting business that he ran for many years.
Arthur was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, the Retired PA State Police Association and he served as an officer of the PA State Police Museum, and was a member of the Ellendale Sportsman Club. His favorite was the Wednesday morning breakfast club and the Thursday evening poker club.
Arthur is survived by Rita (DeFebo) Cronin his loving wife of sixty-six years, his daughter Mary (Cronin) Abeln and (Greg) of Carlisle, sons Mark (Peggy) of Earlysville, VA and Michael of Harrisburg, his brother Connie of Mechanicsburg, sister Patricia Taylor of Sunnyvale, CA, his granddaughter Laura Monegan of Harrisburg, many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Ida Cronin, sister Nan McCloskey, infant son John Philip and daughter Marcia Ann.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, July 16, 2015 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg. Visitation will take place before the mass at the church chapel starting at 9:30 AM. A luncheon in the church hall will follow. Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 17, 2015 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in his memory be made to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament or St. Catherine Laboure Church both in Harrisburg, PA.
