Edith Celestina "Edie" (Acri) Kochenour, 97, passed peacefully on April 24, 2023 after a long illness.
She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Fortuna (Biasi) Acri and the widow of Kenneth William Kochenour, her husband of 50 years. Edith is survived by two daughters, Lynda Ronemus of Mechanicsburg and Pamela Gilbert of New Cumberland; and two grandsons, Jared Ronemus and Blake Amedeo. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Amedeo.
Also surviving is one sister, Helen Lappano of Mechanicsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, Edith was also preceded in death by six brothers, Romualdo Acri, Adolph Acri, Albert Acri, Ercole Acri, Armond Acri, Raymond Acri and two sisters, Aralia Lewis and Esther Lewis.
Edie was a lifelong resident of the Harrisburg area. She was a graduate of John Harris High School and a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Edie worked for the Western Union during WWII, and then the Dauphin County Court House, Register of Wills Office. In addition, she worked part-time for J.C. Penney's for 18 years starting in 1966. Edie was a member of the Mechanicsburg Officers Club for many years. She played in various Bridge groups for 60 years and was an avid reader of books.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, May 4, 2023 at her church, 2800 Paxton Church Rd., Harrisburg. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM Thursday until the time of the service at the church.
