Joyce M. Acri, 77, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, Wednesday, May 30, 2018, after a courageous four year battle with ovarian cancer. Born February 6, 1941, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Adeline (Rocco) Acri. Joyce was a 1958 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. She devoted her life to being the best wife, mother, and Nana to her family. A selfless volunteer in the community, Joyce spent countless hours helping others. She was a past president of the Auxiliary of Harrisburg Hospital and a member of the Board of Pinnacle Health Auxiliary, where she spend 40 years as a member. She was actively involved with Hospice of Central Pennsylvania for 30 years and was awarded the A. Thomas Andrews Founders Award in 2013. In 2017, she was a recipient of the YWCA Tribute to Women of Excellence Award for her years of tireless service. She volunteered for many years at Harrisburg Hospital, the past twelve at the gift shop. In addition, she was a member of the Harrisburg Symphony Society, a past president of the Friends of East Shore Library, and a volunteer at the Villa Theresa Nursing Home. Above all, Joyce loved her family, her friends, and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling the world, playing tennis, attending McDevitt sporting events, watching Notre Dame football, reading, cooking, and doting on her grandchildren. Nobody could beat Nana's Italian cooking! Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jerry; daughter Colleen M. Stewart (Randy), of LaVale, MD; son, Michael S. Acri (Dina), of Lower Paxton Township; and brother Charles R. (Patricia) Acri, of Lower Paxton Township. She was beloved "Nana" to her four grandchildren; Chloe and Madison Stewart, and Gianna and Vincent Acri. She loves her granddogs, Leo & Josie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Monday, June 4, 2018, at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am – 11:00 am, prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
