Michael K. Bateman

Michael K. Bateman 61, of Swatara Township, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence in Susquehanna Township after battling cancer. Michael was born in Harrisburg on January 5, 1953 to the late Harry Bateman, Sr. and Shirley Bateman. After attending Central Dauphin High School, he joined the US Navy and served proudly during the Vietnam era. Michael had a long career in automotive sales where he enjoyed the opportunity to help others. He loved his family deeply and was loved by them as well. Those who knew Michael will remember his kindness, quick wit, and a presence which could fill a room. Those who knew him intimately will remember him as a strong but sensitive man, willing to give all he could in a spirit of love. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Toni Forsythe (Quintin), Julie Cochran (Jason), a son Michael Bateman, and four grandchildren along with two brothers: Daniel Bateman (Lana), and Steven Bateman (Kim). He was preceded in death by his older brother, Harry Bateman, Jr. The family will receive friends in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service with the Rev. Steve Bateman officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Harrisburg, PA.
