M. Douglas Verbos, 62, of Harrisburg, passed away at home on January 16, 2020 following a nine month battle with cancer. Doug was born in Harrisburg on June 18, 1957. He was the son of Lois A. Verbos and the late Victor L. Verbos.
Doug worked at Keurig Dr Pepper, formerly Davis Beverage Group, for 41 years. He was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and attended Shippensburg University. He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Parish and the Croatian Fraternal Union. Doug was a part of the Bishop McDevitt football coaching staff for 20 years. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed horse racing. Time spent with his family was important to him and he loved his children and grandsons dearly. He enjoyed life to the fullest, was a positive influence to all who knew him, and always put his family first. Doug will be remembered as a fun-loving man with a kind heart.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Minnaugh) Verbos, his son, Michael (Nicole) Verbos, and daughters Shannon (Michael) Thompson and Melissa Verbos (Shawn Horner); four grandsons, Cole, Cooper and Evan Verbos and MJ Thompson. In addition to his mother, Lois A. Verbos, he is survived by two brothers Mark Verbos and Brad Verbos; two sisters, Vicki Vargo and Lauri Werner. Also, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Neill Funeral Home, Harrisburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Catherine Laboure Church. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bishop McDevitt Football.
