Born October 1, 1931, in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late John Joshua and Evelyn (Walters) Hess; she was the widow of Richard H. Finney; who passed in 1984.
Nancy (“Nan”) was a 1949 graduate of Boiling Springs HS where she played saxophone in band, sang in Chorus, and lettered in basketball. She started her career at the Telegraph Press in Harrisburg as a keypunch operator, later moving to the Derry Township Tax Office where she was office manager at her time of retirement. She then worked for Home Instead, providing compassionate home care to others for many years. She loved her family, flowers and music. She was an active member of Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, serving the Lord in many roles over the years, she loved singing in the choir and the annual Christmas Cantata presentations.
Surviving is her son, Joel W. Hair (Suzanne); daughter, Janine K. Hill; 6 grandchildren, Karson Hair, Katie Moore, Rebekah Mitchell, Adrienne Lemasters and Sydney Hill; 3 great-grandchildren, Cooper Mitchell, Isabelle Baker and Fallon Moore; 2 sisters, Naomi Lamason and Jacky Black (Sam); and brother, John Hess. Nancy was preceded in death by infant sister Iris Hess and sisters Betty Wilson and Joyce Mumper.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 15, 2025, in the Faith E. C. Church, 600 Strites Rd., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
