

Richard D. Hubert, 69 of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA. Born in Shamokin, PA, He was the son of the late Peter and Florence (Obniski) Hubert. Richard graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes H.S. “Shamokin Class of 65.” Richard served in the U S Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following the military, he received a BS in Data Processing from Kings College, Wilkes Barre, PA. He worked for the Commonwealth of PA in the Department of Public Welfare and retired after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Lawnton American Legion Post 998, Manada Golf League, AG Softball league and was an usher at the Hershey Theater. But, MOST OF All, he was a great husband, father and Opa to his five grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Shafer Hubert, his son Jeremy and his two step-daughters, Deborah L. Shultz, Kimberly S. Snyder (Brian) and his step-son Mark P. Shafer. Also surviving are his loving grandchildren, Adrienne, Jaxon, Ryan, Lynnae and Casey and his sister, Judith Shingara (Stanley). A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 4000 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, from 5:00pm till 7:00pm, at the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA, and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 am till the time of the mass. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Dauphin County Veterans Honor Guard.
