Salvatore J. "Sam" Mercurio Jr., 92, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his home. Born July 21, 1923, in Harrisburg; he was the son of the late Salvatore and Ignatius Mercurio Sr.; preceded in death by his wife, Marian E. Mercurio; son, Joseph Mercurio; and daughter, Patricia Levi. Surviving is a daughter, Christine M. Moretti, husband, husband, Al, of Philadelphia; a son, Gregory J. Mercurio, of Brooklyn, NY; a daughter-in-law, Sue Mercurio, of Harrisburg; 4 grandchildren, Josh, Jeremy, Justin and Brittany; and 4 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, August 24, 2015 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM Monday until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project Inc., 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
