Alice Louise Bowman

She was born in Harrisonburg on April 18, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Mark Hampton and Mattie Rexrode Bowman.

Alice graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1945 and was Salutatorian. After high school she worked at The Pentagon and later was office manager at Shomo and Lineweaver Insurance Company for 43 years and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, United Methodist Woman’s group at her church and the Pilot Club of Harrisonburg. Alice was an avid reader, played the piano, enjoyed writing poetry, and was very active in her church.

She is survived by a niece, Gloria Gray and husband, Richard, their children, Aaron and Tyler Gray, Brenan Gray and wife, Katie, Trevor Gray and wife, Kelly; nephews, Ronald Gaines and wife, Neola, Michael Bowman and wife, Leila; great-great-niece and nephews, Adeline Gray, Aidan and Bryson Gray.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Glen and Paul Bowman, and Frances B. Gaines.

The family will receive friends 7-8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Woodbine Cemetery with Rev. Adam Blagg officiating.
