She was born on May 24, 1920 in Newport, TN, and was the daughter of the late Homer and Glennie Harper Brooks.
Danila was a school teacher in her early years. She was a member of Valley Church of Christ in Harrisonburg. She loved to bowl and bowled in two bowling leagues until age 92. She enjoyed gardening, reading and being with her family including her grand dog.
On May 10, 1949 she married Donald James Wiers, who preceded her in death on November 6, 1986.
She is survived by a son, Donald Homer Wiers and wife, Paula, of Enola, PA; a daughter, Diana Simmons and husband, Richard, of Harrisonburg; a granddaughter, Natasha Simmons of Harrisonburg; and a grand dog, Zeke; a sister-in-law, Ruth Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews who reside in Tennessee; two special friends, Janie Dean and Judy Falls; and In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
The family will gather at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg and a graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, with Pastor David Burch officiating.
