Mrs. Gwen Long Foltz

Mrs. Gwen Long Foltz, 87, a resident of McGaheysville, died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at her residence. A daughter of the late John L. and Elsie Wagner Long, she was born on February 17, 1931 in Rockingham County and lived her entire life in the area. She retired after working in the cafeteria at Montevideo High School for many years. Gwen was also a very active member of McGaheysville United Methodist Church, helping out with the clothes closet, lawn parties and numerous activities in Sunday school. On July 1, 1950 she married Lacie Lee Foltz who preceded her in death on June 8, 2004. Gwen is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Foltz of Tucson, AZ; two sons, Gary Foltz of Wyoming, PA, and David Foltz of Grottoes, VA; two grandchildren, Matt Foltz and Brandy May and husband, Brandon; one step-granddaughter, Tammy Breeden; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Paula Heater of Grottoes, VA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Foltz, and two brothers, Larry and John Long. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at McGaheysville United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Wingert officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
