Harry Olin Rutherford

A son of the late James Martin and Helen Belle Secrist Rutherford he was born on Nov. 16, 1918 in Rockingham County. He lived his entire life in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg and served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Rutherford had been employed by Daly Brothers Shoe Factory, Nielson Construction Co. and in 1980 retired from Riddleberger Brothers. He was a member of Rion-Bowman VFW Post 632.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy R. Sipes of Harrisonburg; one grandson, Chad Sipes and his fiancé, Pam Atkins of Broadway; two great-grandchildren, Meghan and Tyler and two nieces. He was preceded in death by four siblings.

A Graveside Service will be held at eleven o’clock Saturday morning in the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 2788 Taylor Spring Lane, Harrisonburg, with the Rev. Wayne Wright officiating.

The family will receive friends at any time at the home of his daughter at 6640 North Valley Pike in Harrisonburg.
