Herman Joseph Conley

A son of the late Ethel V. Conley, he was born on May 2, 1945 in Rockingham County. He was raised in the home of his grandmother, Vernie Conley, and graduated from Broadway High School. He was in equipment maintenance at Pilgrim’s Pride. Mr. Conley served in the Air Force and was a member of the Vision of Hope United Methodist Church.

On Dec. 19, 1982, he married Genevieve Smith Winegard who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two step-sons, Steve Winegard and Dianne; and Stacey Winegard all of Harrisonburg; a step-daughter, Sharon Pierson and husband, Howard of Fernley, NV. He also leaves 7 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Reynolds and husband, Ottis; and two brothers, James Conley and wife, Mary, all of Broadway; and Bobby Conley and wife, Sandy, of Fredericksburg, VA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas (Tommy) Conley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2012 at the Vision of Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Burch officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 Saturday at the Church, prior to the Funeral Service.
