James "Jimbo" Oliver Buchanan

James “Jimbo” Oliver Buchanan, 83, of Harrisonburg, passed away on November 28, 2023.
He was born on November 26, 1940 in Washington County, Virginia and was the son of the late John F. and Nellie “Nell” Campbell Buchanan.
He was a truck driver for Smith Transfer for 25 years and a driver and the director of transportation at Red Front Supermarket for an additional 25 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren and member of the local Fraternal Order of Eagles.
On December 2, 1959, he married his wife of 64 years, Linda Hoover Buchanan, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Keith D. Buchanan of Memphis, TN and Craig E. Buchanan of Orlando, FL; two grandsons Cody and Dylan; a brother, John Roger Buchanan of Albany, IN; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Buchanan VanHuss and Eleanor Buchanan Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Jon Prater officiating. Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA.
