John Thaxton Mauzy

John Thaxton Mauzy, 82, of Harrisonburg, passed away Monday April 15, 2024 at Sentara RMH surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 13, 1941 in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a longtime Valley resident, realtor, volunteer, historian, and tennis patron. A grandfather of four, he is survived by: his wife Elizabeth (Betsy); daughter, Katherine Robinson and husband, Jim; daughter, Liza and son, Jack; son, Thaxton and wife, Devin; son, Hampton and son, Hudson; brother, William and extended family. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Mon. Apr. 22, 2024, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Harrisonburg. The family will receive visitors at the church starting at 10am; the service will start at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
