He was born on February 16, 1949 in Harrisonburg, and is the son of Margaret Smiley Gibson and the late Arnold Gibson.
Wayne attended Harrisonburg City Schools and lived all of his life in Harrisonburg. He was employed at the Pro Shop at Spotswood Country Club from 1966-1998. He was an avid golfer and a member of Mt. Valley United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Nancy Diehl and husband, Michael “Mickey”, Judy Diehl all of Broadway; one nephew, Neil Roadcap of Broadway; one niece, Angie Akey of Charlottesville; and one great-niece, Annabelle Akey.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, November 9, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Valerie Ritter officiating.
