

He was born in Pendleton County, WV, on January 8, 1935, and was the son of the late Alva and Martha Propst.
Lester lived his early life in Franklin, WV, then moved to Rockingham County where he lived the majority of his life.
He was a truck driver for Rockingham Poultry, Mauzy Litter, and R. B. P. Litter Service, before retiring two years ago. Lester was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, which he dearly loved, and taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Lester enjoyed camping, pitching horseshoes, cutting wood, solving puzzles, playing cards and had read the entire Bible eight times.
On January 14, 1955 he married the former Lorraine “Rainy” Conley, who survives.
He is also survived by his children, David R. Propst and wife, Michelle, of Martinsburg, WV, Karen E. Propst at home, Rev. Steven L. Propst and wife, April, of Goode, VA, Cindy P. Landes and husband, Ronald, of Harrisonburg, Tina L. Propst and companion, Amy Cubbage, of Broadway; grandchildren, Megan and Tyler Landes, Katie and Josh Propst; sisters, Virginia Killander of Cumberland, MD, Jean Lambert of Broadway, Mary Frances “Fran” Rexrode and Bonnie Hulvey both of Harrisonburg; brothers, Charles Propst of Weyers Cave, James Propst of Manassas, Raymond Propst of Harrisonburg, Jesse “Bud” Propst of Bergton; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM, Thursday, October 11, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, October 12, at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael T. Frank and Dr. Gary A. Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow at Herwin Chapel Cemetery.
