Varlie "Bob" Lambert

Varlie “Bob” Lambert, 91, of Rockingham passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at his home. He was born on August 20, 1927 in West Virginia and was the son of the late Will and Ida (Lambert) Lambert. Varlie was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County; during WWII he served in the US Air Force. He was employed with Houff Transfer for 36 years before retiring. Varlie was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and he enjoyed playing golf at Lakeview Golf Course. On June 7, 1947 he married the former Helen V. Grim, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Carolyn Ball and husband, Frank, of Rockingham, a granddaughter, Jocelyn Dale and husband, Matt, of Richmond; and two great granddaughters, Stephanie and Audrey Dale. He was preceded in death by a son, Varlie Lambert, Jr. A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, November 20 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater with Pastor Carrie Talbott officiating. A memorial service will follow at St. James United Methodist Church at 3 pm.
