
A son of the late Orville and Catherine Monroe Hoover, he was born on May 4, 1940 in Alexandria, VA. He was educated in the Fairfax County Schools and made his home in Milford, VA prior to moving to Harrisonburg in 2000. Mr. Hoover had served in the Navy and had been employed by the U.S. Government at Fort A. P. Hill until he retired in 1996. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and had worked with the Boy Scouts for 48 years. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.
On Aug. 9, 2003 he married Julie W. Hoover who survives him.
Besides his wife, he is survived one step-son, Gregory Dellinger of Marietta, GA; and five step-grandchildren.
A graveside service in the Mt. Jackson Cemetery will be held at 10:00 Tuesday morning with Dr. Kyle Key officiating.
A memorial service at First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg will follow at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at the Church.
The Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
