Leona Isabella (Campbell) Keller, 85, of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, June 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
Leona was born October 25, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Harold and Lillian Campbell. In 1954 she married George Edward Keller, her husband of 68 years.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in her early teens. Leona then followed her husband when he was called into the ministry. They spent 7 years as missionaries in the Philippines with their 4 children. Five of those years were spent as dorm parents to 20-some 9th–10th grade girls who were attending (Faith Academy) a missionary boarding school. While managing the day-to-day needs of a large busy household she also found time to help with homework, school projects and watching out for the general well-being of the girls. Upon their return to the United States, she supported her husband’s work which included time at several bible camps as well as being a pastor’s wife teaching Sunday School, Bible Studies, VBS, and Hospitality Services in churches in both Tennessee and Florida.
Throughout her life she greatly enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, canning, board games, puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. Leona was a talented painter of wooden crafts. She also collected rocking horses and seashells. Being of Scottish decent, she attended the Scottish Highland Games on several occasions which was one of her greatest pleasures.
Preceded in death by her husband, Leona is survived by her loving children Vicki (Donn) Toensfeldt, Kimberley (Don) Tyson, David (Tori) Keller & Judith (Orban) Amix; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers she would be honored to know that a donation was made to one of the charities that were dear to her heart…
➢ David Jeremiah (Shadow Mountain Community Church) https://ShadowMountain.org
➢ Billy Graham Evangelistic Association https://www.billygraham.org
➢ Samaritan’s Purse Int’l Relief https://www.samaritanspurse.org
She will always be remembered for her delicious home cooked meals and baked goods and the many fond memories she made with her grandchildren. Her absence has left us with sadness, but we know we will see her again one day in Heaven. We hold on to the truth of some of her favorite verses; Exodus 14:13-14 Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord which he will show to you today…the Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Psalms 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.coffey-fh.com for the Keller family.
