Robert L. Orr

Robert Lewis Orr of Tazewell, TN , formally of Speculator, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2017. He was born April 13, 1937 to Ralph and Leona Orr in Wells, NY. Bob graduated from Wells High School and later attended SUNY @ Cobleskill where he earned a degree in Agricultural Production (Horticulture).

Although he started working at Hagen Greenhouses and Asgrow Seed Company early in his career, most will remember him as the manager of Oneida Markets and Charlie Johns Store before he became the owner/operator of Orr’s Flowers in Speculator, NY.

Bob was an active member and Lay Speaker of the Lake Pleasant United Methodist Church in Lake Pleasant, NY and Wells United Methodist Church in Wells, NY before moving to Tazewell, TN in 1997 where he became a member, Lay Speaker and Conference Delegate of Tazewell United Methodist Church. He helped launch the Celebrate Recovery program at Tazewell UMC and served as a leader and speaker for the program. Bob also lovingly prepared and served many of the evening meals at this program which brought him much joy.

He was predeceased by the the love of his life, Martha Orr, and is survived by three children: son, Ralph (Kathy) Orr of Prince George, VA; daughter Nancy (Roger) Hager of Tazewell, TN and daughter Frances (Michael) Allen of Grovetown, GA. He has four grandchildren: Joseph (Danielle) Orr, Christopher (Kristen) Hager, Elizabeth and Shawn Allen and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Valerie and Samuel.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 P.M. Monday October 2, 20217 at Coffey Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 7 P.M. Monday in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Minister: Pastor J.D. Estep and Singer and Music: Janice Derreberry.
