Sherman Brown

Sherman Brown, 93, of Harrogate, TN, went home to be with his Lord on November 19, 2015. Sherman was lifelong resident of the Shawanee community in Harrogate, TN. He and his wife Paris, who preceded him in death, were members of the Shawanee Baptist Church. Sherman proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. During his time of service to our country, Sherman was a crew member on the U.S.S Intrepid aircraft carrier. Sherman was married to Paris Brown (Thompson) and they were a happily married couple of 62 years. Sherman worked at Lincoln Memorial University for 25 years. He enjoyed his church, spending time with family, going for walks down the railroad tracks near his home, fixing almost anything and everything, and most recently spending time with his friends at Laurel Manor. Sherman would always greet you with a big smile and would be the first person to help anyone. Sherman is preceded in death by his wife Paris Brown; his parents Bergen and Bessie Brown; his sister Hazel Carey; and his brother Walter Brown.

Sherman is survived by his two children, Ronnie Brown and his wife Sheila of Clinton,TN and Sharon Ritz and her husband Mike of Kingsport, TN; his brother Herbert and his wife Betty of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; his grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, Brian, and Tony; five great-grandchildren; his nephew and nieces; and the rest of his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Charity of your choice. The family of Sherman Brown wishes to thank the staff of Laurel Manor for their wonderful care for Mr. Brown. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 22, 2015 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Harrogate, TN. Pastor John Gibbons of Shawanee Baptist Church will be officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate, TN Burial in the Harrogate Cemetery with Military Honors.
