

Carolyn was born in Monmouth, New Jersey and eventually relocated to Shreveport, LA where she would eventually meet and marry her husband Richard Alan Brunson. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August this year. They both attended Byrd Highschool and would eventually go on to graduate from Louisiana Tech University.
She was a math and computer science major and would take a job at IBM in Washington, DC out of college. As Richard faced getting drafted into the military during the Vietnam War she would give up her job at IBM to marry Richard and head out to San Diego to begin a new life as a devoted wife, mother and military spouse. She would eventually resume her career as a software engineer.
She loved traveling and exploring the world, playing bridge and Mahjong, taking care of her cats, supporting her Phi Mu Sorority, dancing/clogging and collecting jewelry. She was a devoted Christian who loved growing in her faith through her Bible Study Fellowship group in Georgetown, TX.
Preceding her in death are her parents William C. Morris and Helenmai Morris, and her sister Terry Morris.
She is survived by her husband Richard Alan Brunson, her daughter Kristen Brunson and her husband Sean Thompson, son Richard Alan Brunson, Jr and his wife Kim Brunson, Her grandchildren are Dylan Brunson, Tyler Brunson and Amanda Thompson. She is also survived by her brother Bill Morris and his wife Stacy, her brother Lee Morris and his wife Rosemary and her sister Barbara Peyton and her husband Jerry as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the wonderful care and support she received from the staff and community at The Glen Retirement System in Shreveport (Redbrook and the Village) these last few years.
A celebration of life will be held for her on Friday March 20, 2026 at 1 pm at the Hill Crest Funeral Home & Park, 601 US Highway 80 East, Haughton, LA 71037. A reception will follow at the Shreveport Aquarium, 601 Clyde Fant Pkwy, Shreveport, LA 71101 beginning at 4 pm.
