Clarence Brittion Townsend

Clarence Brittion Townsend, 77, born November 3, 1933 in Coalgate, OK to Trueman Brittion and Ruth D. Walker Townsend, died peacefully in his sleep on December 8, 2010 in Shreveport, LA. He was a graduate of Union High School in Tulsa, OK. Clarence served in the US Navy and US Air Force retiring in 1976. He was co-owner of Barksdale Upholstery and Trim until its closing. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home with Holiday Ramblin Rangers Chapter 214 and took several cruises including an Alaskan cruise with all his children in 2008. He will be greatly missed by the family that meant the world to him.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley McCarty Townsend; brothers, Eugene, Travis, Gerald and Jackie Townsend; sister, Linda Sue McCollum and two nephews.

Survivors include wife, Betty Townsend of Shreveport, LA; sons, Larry Townsend of Dallas, TX, Brad Hughes and wife Cindy of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Lisa Prescott and husband Michael of Bossier City, LA, Debe Hennigan and husband Ronny of Doyline, LA; grandchildren, Laree Prescott and fiancé Brian Weeks of Ruston, LA, Sarah Prescott of Bossier City, LA, Kendall Hughes, Cameron Hughes, Kalie Hughes and Collin Hughes of Shreveport, LA, Deanna Glaze and husband Toby of Doyline, LA and Dustin Allen of Monroe, LA; great-grandson, Brian Michael Weeks, Jr.; brother, Hubert Townsend and wife Caroline of Muldrow, OK; sister, Virgie Buttery and husband Lee of Broken Arrow, OK and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are to be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton with interment in Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery following the services. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pm on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Hill Crest Funeral Home.
