Converse, LA- Donald Dobbs, Jr. age 60, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 6, 1950 in Shreveport, LA to Ramona and Donald Dobbs Sr.

Mr. Dobbs proudly served his country in the U.S.A.F. from 1970-1978. He was a self employed electrician and owner of Dobber’s Electric Inc. Dobber loved being outside; bird watching, growing flowers, plants and gardening. He enjoyed bowling and spent many years in a bowling league and loved all kinds of music. But most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margie; two sons, Pat Dobbs and wife Kristy, Kris Dobbs and wife Lindsey; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Jack, Brandon, Gracie, Trevor, Kaylen, Irene, and Peighton; and sister, Marvella Downing and husband Bill.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Cox of Lakeside Baptist Church in Converse, LA officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Jesse Cook, Roger Hill, Eric West, Terry Smith, Ronnie Galbraith, and Nate Davis.

Mr. Dobbs family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Chintapalli, Dr. Chanand their staff at the Schumpert Cancer Center, and the nursing staff and physicians of the 6th floor of Schumpert Hospital. Their friendship, care and compassion will always be remembered.
